This year as we observe our season of thanksgiving, let us be grateful not only in word but also in deed. Let our gratitude find expression in a resolve to live a life more unselfish and more consecrated to Jesus Christ. When we sit around our tables laden with sumptuous delicacies, let us not forget that half the world will go to bed hungry. As we enjoy the comforts of our cozy homes, let us not forget that great numbers in other parts of the world have no homes to go to.

When we step into our sleek automobiles, let us not forget that most of the people in the world cannot afford even a bicycle. In the Lord’s Prayer as recorded in the sixth chapter of Matthew, we read, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Scripture teaches that the good things of this life are the gifts of God, and that He is the donor of all our blessings. Thanksgiving? Yes. Let us get on our knees humbly and thank God for the blessings He has given us, both material and spiritual. They have come from His hands.

Are you bored with life? Then throw yourself into some work you believe in with all your heart, live for it, die for it, and you will find happiness that you had thought could never be yours.
Dale Carnegie

So many people in life are bored. You might be bored with your job or relationship, you might be bored with your financial situation, or you just might be bored with life! If this sounds like you, find something in life that you can get excited about, and then work at it like you have never worked before. Having a career that you love, contributes greatly to your happiness in life. Find your gifts and talents, and move in that direction. It seems to me that there are many people in the world today that live their life without any purpose, just hoping for the best!

Goals and working towards those goals are very important in regards to the direction of your life. In relationships, do everything you can to work it out with your partner, seek counseling, and try to live in peace and harmony. Many relationships are filled with boredom, and that is why one or the other starts looking elsewhere for happiness. Some people think it is greener on the other side of the fence, when in reality, there are the same problems and issues that were there in your previous relationship. Find your passions, and give it everything you have. Don’t be bored in life as life has so much to offer you!

Open Your Heart

So many people today live in guilt and condemnation over their past mistakes and wrongdoings. They have this attitude that they are too far gone or they’ve made too many mistakes. They think that if they walk into church, the roof will cave in. Friend, if that’s you, nothing could be further from the truth! It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, it doesn’t matter where you’ve been; God’s grace is enough. Scripture says that we are saved “by faith through grace.” Grace is His unmerited favor upon you. You can’t earn it no matter how “good” you act, but He’s offering it to you as a free gift. His grace is what empowers you to change and live the life He’s called you to.
Today, don’t live another minute in regret, condemnation, heaviness or despair. Receive His grace. It’s as easy as opening your heart and inviting Him to change your life. Remember, there’s nothing you could ever do that His grace can’t bring you through. So open your heart to Him and receive it today!

Creativeness with God

John Knox, with an all-consuming soul-concern for his country, prayed, “Give me Scotland, or I die!” His earnest travail was rewarded with a spiritual rebirth in his land. This is what is termed “praying in the Spirit.” It is the manifestation of a deep spiritual concern for others, and it is instilled by the Spirit of God. This kind of prayer can leap over oceans, speed across burning deserts, spring over mountains, bound through jungles, and carry the healing, helping power of the Gospel to the object of prayer.

That “the Spirit Himself makes intercession” indicates that it is actually God pleading, praying, and mourning through us. Thus we become co-laborers with God, actual partners with Him; our lives are lifted from the low plane of selfishness to the high plane of creativeness with God. John Knox travailed, and the Church in Scotland broke into new life.

Love can sometimes be magic. But magic can sometimes… just be an illusion.

A man reserves his true and deepest love not for the species of woman in whose company he finds himself electrified and enkindled, but for that one in whose company he may feel tenderly drowsy.
George Jean Nathan

Oh, the world of love. So many times over your lifetime, you think you are in love, to find out that it is all an illusion. Someone once said that, “love is blind.” Maybe sometimes we overlook red flags when we are so caught up in the magic of love. I have had many disappointments in love, and my picking abilities have not been very good. How do we really know what love looks like? How do you find an everlasting love, that grows from day-to-day, and a love that enriches your life until you pass away? It seems to me, that it really boils down to selfishness. Instead of making your partner happy, and attempting everyday to love and serve them, we want to think about our own happiness and our own selfish desires.

True happiness in a relationship, comes from selfless love. Unconditional love may be the most difficult thing that we ever do in our lifetime. It takes a committment each day to think about serving your partner, and not expecting anything in return. That I believe, is unconditional love. I still believe that I can have committed love that lasts forever and I pray that God will show me how to be that type of person that gives and is not concerned with receiving. We live in a selfish world, and in the end, I want to be known as a giver. God, teach me how to love and how to be a giver!

In Our Weakness

You should not expect the easy way, for if you do you are certainly destined for disappointment. Any person who knows the Bible knows that the Christian life is likened to an athletic contest or to warfare, and neither one is easy. Jesus warned His followers to count carefully the cost, and that certainly does not speak of an easy way. But there is no good thing that comes without cost.

The Christian life is the most satisfying, but only when we actually go all out and all the way. It is the Christian who tries to compromise who finds life miserable, for he has all the problems, without the fellowship that comes through surrender. For every trial and test, Christ supplies an abundance of grace with which to bear it, and in our weakness we are made strong.

Happy Moments

Who will tell whether one happy moment of love or the joy of breathing or walking on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air, is not worth all the suffering and effort which life implies.
Erich Fromm

Life is so strange as we turn here, and turn there, and as we go through such a maze of ups and downs. Those happy moments of joy and laughter that we encounter in our life, are truly worth the trials and tribulations that we go through on our journey of life and living.  That smile, that hug, that beautiful sunset, the bright flowers that we see, the happiness of accomplishments, seeing children smile after discovering something new, all contribute to our joy, peace, and happiness in life. We all face difficulties, but we must remember to not forget the simple things of life that bring such joy to our lives.

It seems to me, that so many individuals get so caught up in their jobs, raising their families, or whatever it is that we need to do to pay the bills and take care of our families. Have we forgotten how to recharge our batteries? To relax and take a break? Many hospitals are filled with people on the verge of nervous breakdowns. We must chill out and find something that we can do that gives us peace and joy. Take time to find out what gives you joy, and relaxation. Happy moments come from slowing down, and recharging so you can enjoy even more of what life has to offer. You can do it!
